It is rare for suspected terrorists to live so close to home. There has been a lot of activity recently with FBI nabbing those who would wish to cause harm to innocent Americans. The most recent case was reported this morning.
A Sudbury, MA resident named Tarek Mehanna was plotting to commit violent jihad by shooting up a mall. He has been under investigation since 2001. Since that time he has taken trips to the Middle East, allegedly gathering information on how to carry out an attack on the U.S.

More surprising is a blog I found from my Google search this morning. The blog insists on Mehanna's innocence from an FBI probe back in 2008 and asks for support. Most disturbing are the comments at the bottom of the blog, with people saying things like "May Allah free him."

It will be interesting to see if this blogger posts a similar supportive post after today. It is hard for me to believe that his fellow Muslims were supporting this man who was plotting to harm innocent Americans.

A couple of quick google searches this evening provided me with three links. Boston dot com has an article revealing more details about the allegations against Mehanna. It turns out this is not just an investigation into some coincidental evidence; this is disturbing stuff. The facebook page is a support page for this terrorist and one of the contributors referenced the site freetarek dot com.
