Lifting Our Own Boat

How much of the increase in standards of living in Western industrialized nations should we attribute to the ubiquitous usage of disposable products, excessive consumption of plastic, and low wage labor in third world countries? If the answer is "very much" does that mean our standards of living have been artificially inflated at the expense of the environment and residents of third world countries?
